Best & Worst Days

Inspired by President Emily Belle Freeman's

April 2026 General Conference talk titled,

"Best Days and Worst Days"

The best of days, the worst of days,

This is life’s great test:

To see if I will choose the Lord

And trust that He knows best.

For He’ll allow mortality

To do its work in me,

As painful or triumphant

As the days ahead may be.

For truly on those best of days

When hope smiles from above,

Those days when I can’t help but sing

Of God’s redeeming love.

And also on those worst of days

When I can’t see His hand,

When all the hopes I had in life

Don’t seem to go as planned.

The highs and lows of day to day

Will serve in me a proving,

For comfortable in every way

Leaves no room for improving.

And through the worst, as Peter learned

While sinking in the sea,

My Savior isn’t far on shore,

He's in the waves with me.

For even He, who rose again

In glory on Sunday,

Bore first the grief and heartache

And the darkness of Friday.

Perhaps the road to being one

Who chooses God always,

Requires faith acquired through,

The best and worst of days.
