The Cleansing of Naaman
July 6-12: 2 Kings 5:1-14 Unto a mighty man of God A man of valor came, To ask the Lord to heal his wounds And Naaman was his name. Once a man of noble strength Now pleading for a cure, He came with hope that Israel’s God Could make him clean and pure. So at the prophet's door he told The story of his grief, And from the house the prophet sent Instructions for relief. Promising if down into The Jordan he would go, He’d be made clean, as there he washed Within the rivers flow.

The God of Hills and Valleys
June 29- July 5: 1 Kings 20:28 The Lord is God when He lifts high And also it is so, That He is God of all the earth When I am brought down low. Upon the hills He is my God When life has lifted high, And in the valleys He remains When life breaths out in sigh. The God of hills and valleys reigns No matter where I stand, There is no place I’ll find myself That He cannot command. Upon the hilltops one can’t stay Forever at the peak, Nor in the valleys can one dwell Forever wher

The Widow of Zarephath
June 29- July 5: 1 Kings 17:9-16 Not a drop of rain in Zarephath Nor all throughout the land, A little meal and oil left Was all she had on hand. With only just enough to make For her and for her son, A single cake as their last meal, Their last and only one. And in her state the Lord did send A Prophet there to feed, To ask of her to make a cake Despite her desperate need. The last of all they’d ever eat Before they’d surely die, But was this not a holy man Sent from God o

Solomon’s Dedicatory Prayer
June 22-28: 1 Kings 8:22-61 There is no other God, Like the God we praise, No other god keeps covenant With those who walk his ways. If heaven high and broad, Could never Thee contain, Then how much less this house, Could cause Thee to remain. But Thou with deep respect, Will judge Thy servants hands, And hear, oh Lord our prayer, As we keep Thy commands. Upon this house we pray, Keep Thy eyes toward, Place Thy name within these walls And on thy servants, Lord. Thou alone

A Wise Discerning Heart
June 22-28: 1 Kings 3:7-12 Give me understanding, Lord Make me to be wise, Help me judge with fear of God And not with my own eyes. Give me a discerning heart Help me see the way, Teach me by Thy truths and give me Knowledge day by day. In a world where truth feels less Abundant than the lies, A world constantly growing Ever learning, never wise. Give me judgement as Thy own Set my mind apart, Give to me, oh Lord I pray A wise discerning heart. © Julianne Young 2026 Photo

Thou Art the Man
June 22-28: 2 Samuel 12:1-13 To David King of Israel The prophet came to dwell, As sent forth by the Lord on high To teach him by a tale: Within a city two men dwelt One rich, the other poor, The rich man had both flocks and herds Abundance, wealth and more. Not so the poor man, for instead His only wealth was measured, By a single solitary lamb A ewe he dearly treasured. And when a traveler journeyed as A guest to him of wealth, The rich man with his flocks and herds Took no

Intercession
June 15-21: 1 Samuel 25:1-35 Upon me now lay all the blame, I bear in full the guilt and shame, Whatever fool hath hurt thy name Consider me the same. Whatever losses grieve your heart, Whatever pain they did impart, The deepest grief from end to start I take on every part. Upon the Lord the traitors sin, Was laid that death might never win, That too each soul might now begin To let forgiveness in. Then if the Lord did intercede, And for the sinner ever plead, Forgive all men

Five Smooth Stones
June 15-21: 1 Samuel 17 Thoughts inspired by Sister Andrea Muñoz Spannaus' April 2024 General Conference talk tilted "Faithful to the End" Just five smooth stones in a shepherd’s bag Was all that David brought, To face the mighty Philistine, Who against the Lord’s Israel fought. Just five smooths stones and a heart convinced In the name of the Lord he could fair, For in His strength he’d been delivered before From the paw of a lion and bear. Though ruddy and small, and only a

The Battle Belongs to You
June 15-21: 1 Samuel 17:47 The battle is the Lord my God’s It is not mine alone, Nor was it David’s when he slew Goliath with a stone. But it is God of all the earth Who fights the war for me, The very God of Israel Who sets His people free. So if my battle seems to be Too hard for me - it’s true, But Lord with Thee I’ll overcome The battle belongs to You. © Julianne Young 2026 Photo by Astrid Schaffner on Unsplash

The Lord Looks on the Heart
June 8-14: 1 Samuel 16:7 The Lord sees all with perfect eyes, What sets His view apart, Is man looks on the outer flesh, The Lord looks on the heart. It is not stature, strength or fame, Not beauty, wealth or dress, With which the Lord will judge our life Or measure our success. But truly His all seeing eye Can view the inward part, To know the very depth of each, The Lord looks on the heart. © Julianne Young 2026 Photo by Hush Naidoo Jade Photography on Unsplash
