The Leader

Her tender little fingers

Around my fingers curl

As hand in hand I walk beside

My precious little girl.

Her feet will walk where mine do

She trusts in every stride

That I know where we’re headed too

With each path I decide.

And just where will I lead her?

Where will I place her feet,

While walking through the roads of life

Down any given street?

My steps will lead us somewhere

Each one directs our way

For where I go she follows me

As I walk day by day.

And when I might start thinking

I’m walking on my own

That my steps are for my feet

And my journey is alone,

Remember little footsteps

Don’t know now where to be

And on the path I walk along

She’ll follow after me.
