How Cans't Thou Weep?

February 2-8: Moses 7:28-37

How cans't Thou weep

The God of all

Who all of eternity spanned?

How can Thy tears

Fall from the clouds

To water the work of thy hands?

Can Thy heart be heavy

Thine eye shed a tear

All knowing and holy as Thou?

Seeing all that has been

And ever will be

Are Thy feelings so tender, right now?

Looking down from above

Full of justice and truth

Creations unnumbered behold -

How cans't Thou weep?

Have not mercy and truth

And kindness Thy heart consoled?

The God of our Fathers

Our Father divine

In essence of purest perfection,

Is grieved to behold

The children He loves

Showing not to another affection.
