February 16-22: Genesis 12-17, Abraham 1-2

From Abraham, the Lord assured

Would a rise a nation great,

But as the years passed one by one

Perhaps it seemed too late.

Joseph saw in vision

That he’d rise to high esteem,

But sorrow after sorrow

Did he think it just a dream?

Out of Egypt Israel came

For God did see their tears,

But wandered in the wilderness

Another 40 years.

God’s people waited long

For their Redeemer prophesied,

Anticipating freedom when

Nailed to a cross, He died.

When the burning fire of promise

Dims to only just an ember,

I’ll search within Thy word and find

A God who will remember.
