June 1-7:  Samuel 2:1-10

My heart rejoiceth in the Lord

His power over me has poured,

My lips proclaim with great delight

That I have conquered by thy might.

Truly there is not a one

Who can do what my Lord has done,

Let not a mouth be found to boast

Against the Lord of Israel’s Host.

The bows of warriors fail at length

While those who stumble take up strength,

Those once with much are now in need

While those who hungered no more plead.

She who hath no child to raise

Bears children that will give her praise,

But she with strength in family line

Is she who’s left away to pine.

The Lord lifts all of low estate

To sit upon His throne so great,

And all the proud and every foe

Will be abased, and brought down low.

‘Tis not by strength that one prevails

For strength of flesh is strength that fails,

But she with faith, her prize will reap

For in the Lord her feet will keep.

The world is His alone to give,

So I will praise each breath I live.
