Pharaoh's Pride

April 6-12: Exodus 7-11

The Lord called down to Egypt’s land

To let His people go,

And lead them by a mighty hand

Where milk and honey flow.

But Pharaoh with his pride and greed

Would not obey God’s will,

And as he watched the Nile bleed

His heart was hardened still.

Through plagues of pain and devastation

Sill he did resist,

And watched destruction of creation

With an iron fist.

And finally the Lord’s command

Caused Egypt great to Mourn,

When He decreed in all the land

The death of all first born.

And such a cry from Egypt came

As never had been heard,

And on the Pharaoh laid the blame

For God did keep His word.

Few things will cause more grief and sin

And tear our world apart,

Than the stubbornness and pride found in

A hard unyielding heart.
