June 1-7: Ruth 1:16-17

A truer friend

One cannot be,

Then Ruth of old

To Naomi,

When she did give

Her earnest plea,

“Entreat me not to leave thee.”

“For where you go

So I’ll go too,

The road you journey

I’ll walk through,

In life and death

I’ll stay with you,

Entreat me not to leave thee.”

“Thy God will be

The one I praise,

Thy people will

Be mine always,

I’ll follow with thee

All my days,

Entreat me not to leave thee.”

Oh such a friend

I’ll strive to be,

Devoted through

Eternity,

Until my lips

And heart agree,

Entreat me not to leave thee.
