The Sabbath Day

April 20-26: Exodus 31:13-16

The Lord made all in six days,

And when His work was through,

He finished on the seventh day

With resting to renew.

If even God makes holy space

To find refreshing peace,

Then how much good would it do us

To from our labors cease?

The Lord declared His Sabbath day

To make His people wise,

A sign that it is only He

Who truly sanctifies.

So on His holiest of days

I'll seek not my own pleasure,

As I refrain from my own works

He'll make of me His treasure.

Then Let me keep the Sabbath,

Keep it holy in His sight,

For on this day the Lord shows me

What truly brings delight.
