Trusting the Lord

April 13-19: Exodus 14-17

Trusting God completely

Isn’t hard for you and me,

When we’re trusting for another

On a page of History.

For Moses lead his people-

Out of Egypt they did flee,

But they murmured when the stumbled on

The roadblock of the sea.

But God did open up their way

And set His people free,

He made their pathway on dry ground!

…But then they got hungry.

And hunger did what hunger does

To even you and me,

They cried out, "Is the Lord with us?

His hand we cannot see."

Those hands that opened up the waves

Rained down sustaining bread,

And they rejoiced, and they were filled!

…But thirsted now instead.

"Oh where is God, in all our need,

To water us, His flock?"

So God provided water flowing

From a stricken rock.

This story we may read and think

Their pride was all to blame,

But when we walk our wilderness

Perhaps we do the same.

Has the Lord parted your way?

Has he filled your soul?

Has He quenched thirst in the past?

Then let His words console,

And do not fear your current need,

Trust you’ve seen His hand,

For all will work our for your good

As you keep His command.
