Come Forth as Gold

  • Aug 13
  • 2 min read

When upon the path of life

You sweetly glide along,

When your days are full of sunshine

And the sparrows' song,

When each day with hope arises

Bringing your reward,

How much have ye reason then

To stand and praise the Lord?

If life’s journey takes you down

A different path today,

Where the briars, thorns and thistles

Grow to block your way,

If the Lord guides on a journey

Up the steepest hill,

If from grief He does not shield you

Will you trust Him still?

When you cannot hold on to

The things for which you’ve prayed,

If for blessings you have pleaded

But His hand is stayed,

When your tries are met with failure

Time and time again,

If success is not your side

Will you trust Him then?

When the mortal fails its function

When you’ve fallen ill,

If your prayers for restoration

Do not change His will,

When you’re met with pain and anguish

When your strength grows weak,

Is the Lord still your Redeemer

When the road is bleak?

When your friends do not stand by

To lift your weary hands,

When the hopes and dreams you dreamed

Are not within His plans,

If such evil falls upon you

As you walk His way,

When you feel more prone to wander

Will you choose to stay?

Will your faith endure the furnace

Where His wealth is forged,

When affliction is your teacher

Will you trust the Lord?

If you’ll reach for His all knowing

Perfect hand to hold,

On the other side of trial

You’ll come forth as Gold.
